Şişli Municipality Presidency has referred warning letter to İstanbul Technical University Presidency as to the work on green field in Maslak campus of the university.
The municipality on its Twitter account posted, “Şişli Policing teams intervened and stopped the unauthorized work on February 21, Sunday upon complaints”.
The letter warning highlighted that all sorts of physical construction practices require decision of Preservation of Cultural Property Regional Board.
What had happened?
The only green field in İTÜ Maçka campus was closed by wooden walls on February 17.
The university presidency said landscape work was being undertaken, as students expressed. The company officials to whom the students talked stated that a café will be opened there.
Engineering vehicles stopped upon students’ reactions. Private security guards battered the students on February 21, Sunday. The vehicles have been drawn back following the policing said it is unlawful and watch of the students.
Neighborhood residents joined the protest held on February 22 by İTÜ students at the watch. They have reiterated their demand that the field should be preserved as green field. (BK/TK)
