Co-Mayor of Silopi in Şırnak province, Emine Esmer was taken into custody this morning.
Police took Esmer and her driver Cemal Yiğit into custody at the municipality building.
Esmer and Yiğit have been referred to Criminal Court of Peace following the procedures at the security directorate.
Esmer and Yiğit have been sent to Şırnak Closed Prison on charges of “Being member of [illegal] organization”, “Misconduct”, “Engaging in activities of [illegal] organization”, and “Let public property be used in activities of [illegal] organization”.
Second detention
Emine Esmer and Cemal Yiğit had been taken into custody over “Being member of [illegal] organization”, “Misconduct”, “Engaging in activities of [illegal] organization”, and “Let public property be used in activities of [illegal] organization” on February 23.
Both Esmer and Yiğit had been released on condition of judicial control.
Silopi Prosecution objected this ruling today. (YY/TK)
