In the wake of Turkish Statistical Institute's (TurkStat) announcement of inflation figures, wage increases for civil servants and pensioners have been determined. With the inflation rate in December decreasing by 0.40 percent, the inflation rate for 2018 is announced as 20.30 percent.

In accordance with the collective agreement, the wage rises due to inflation rates is calculated per six-month periods.
For the first six months of 2018, inflation rate was measured as 9.17 percent. For this period, civil servant wages increased by an extra 5.17 percent in addition to the 4 percent increase determined by the collective agreement.
Pensions also increased by 5,69 percent in January and 9.17 percent in July.
10.19 percent increase for pensioners from SGK, 10.69 increase for civil servants
With inflation rate measured as 10.19 percent in the second six-month period, the pensioners from the Social Security Institution (SGK) and Social Security Organization for Artisans and Self-Employed (BAĞ-KUR) will get a 10.19 percent increase in their salaries.
Retired and active civil servants will get a 10.69 percent increase in addition to the 4 percent increase.
With the increases, minimum salary for the SGK pensioners will rise from 1,747 Turkish Liras (TRY) to 1,904 TRY, minimum salary for BAĞ-KUR pensioners will rise from 1,475 TRY to 1,608 TRY.
Salaries and inflation difference will be paid to civil servants, contracted civil servants, temporary personnel and retired civil servants on January 15.
Minimum civil servant wage including family benefits will increase from 3,133 TRY to 4,468 TRY. Minimum wage for retired civil servants will rise from 2,149 TRY to 2,379 TRY.
In July, salaries for retired and active civil servants will rise by 5 percent. (HA/VK)
