Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Mariya Zaharova has defined Turkey’s actions on Syrian border as “aggressiveness”.
According to Sputnik News, “Ankara escalates the situation on Syria-Turkey border and provokes it. In fact, this cannot be defined only as a provocation. This is called aggressiveness from every angle”, said Zaharova.
Zaharove expressed that it is not Bashar al Assad whom they support in Syria. “We support the fight he puts against terrorism, as we do for opponents and Kurds fighting against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)”.
Artillery shooting from the border
Turkey launches artillery shooting on People’s Protection Units (YPG)-held territories on the basis of engagement rules.
YPG has announced that it will abide by truce in Syria that Russia and the US have declared.
The truce will begin on February 27.
“End of the Ottoman Empire”
Russian Foreign Affairs Spokesperson has emphasized “Ottoman Empire” in her criticism against Turkey.
“Recent actions of political elite of Turkey cause us to believe the rumors that ambition for empire is reviving.
“If that is true, it shall be remembered what the Ottoman Empire turned into for Europe which observes without any reaction Ankara’s actions.
“Secondly, how history of the Ottoman Empire came to an end shall be remembered.
“Besides, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the Ottoman Empire was being called ‘Sick man of Europe’. Does Turkey want to called that again?” (YY/TK)
