Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Georgian President Mihail Saakaşvili have signed the five-article agreement that ended the conflict.
According to the ceasefire signed after French President Nicolas Sarkozy met with the sides individually, both sides will stop using force, end their military activities, open the way to the humanitarian aid and retreat to their positions before the conflict.
Saakaşvili wanted that the article about opening the status of Osettia and Abhazia to the international discussion to be taken out and Medvedev agreed with it.
Russian tanks in Gori
Georgia announced that in spite of the ceasefire the Russian tanks had entered the town of Gori. Russia denied the allegation, but the news agencies confirmed that the Russian tanks were in Gori, the people were robbed at gunpoint and their belongings were pillaged. According to the BBC reporter Gavin Hewitt, the situation may have been worse in the villages. (TK/TB)
