General Manager of İstanbul Economy Research company Can Selçuki has shared the results of an election survey with the public.
Speaking to Şirin Payzın from Halk TV, Selçuki has said that according to a survey conducted with 1,514 people on June 29-30, the votes of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) have fallen again.
Commenting on these recent results, Selçuki has indicated, "The votes of the AKP increased during the pandemic. The municipalities of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) are doing well. People are contented with the CHP in the places ruled by the CHP."
When the swing voters are not proportionally distributed among the others, the survey results show the following rates of votes:
- AKP: 36.7 percent
- CHP: 18.63 percent
- Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP): 10.43 percent
- Nationalist Movement Party (MHP): 9.50 percent
- İYİ Party: 9.20 percent
- DEVA Party: 2.40 percent
- Future Party: 0.78 percent
- Swing/floating voters: 10.70 percent
These rates have shown that if a general election was held today, the HDP would pass the 10-percent electoral threshold while the MHP, the ally of the AKP in People's Alliance, and the İYİ Party, the ally of the CHP in Nation's Alliance, would not pass the threshold.
As for the DEVA Party and Future Party, the two parties founded by former AKP figures Ali Babacan and Ahmet Davutoğlu respectively, their votes would not pass four percent even when combined.
The survey has also shown that the rate of swing voters could well pass the electoral threshold with 10.70 percent.
'An increase in swing voters'
Can Selçuki has also commented on the survey in a tweet. "We completed our first survey in July," he said and added, "The People's Alliance is now close to its rate of votes before the pandemic. There is an increase in swing voters. Two new parties have started to steadily appear in surveys."
