Roboski İçin Adalet Girişimi (Justice Initiative for Roboski) organized a commemoration ceremony in Ankara yesterday as it coincided with the 100th week of Roboski Massacre - a Turkish military airstrike that killed 34 civilians.
“We know that the only way to peace goes through justice in Roboski,” activists said in a statement.
On the night of December 28, 2011, Turkish military scrambled F-16 jets, bombarding Roboski (Ortasu) in Şırnak province and leaving 34 civilians including children dead.
“After the 2013 Newroz appeal, the resolution process began. Around the same days, the sub-parliamentary commission announced its Roboski report. It was a report that pointed out no culprits and did not mention a single sign of fault.”
“Under confidentiality order and briefly , the case was sent from Diyarbakır (Amed) Prosecutor’s Office to Military Justice authorities. It was proven that the so-called democratic government became ‘state-like’ and military tutelage still continued.
“Even though 23 months passed since the massacre occurred, authorities have yet to launch a realistic investigation or process.” (NV/BM)
