Hüseyin Üzmez, a columnist for daily Vakit, who was accused of sexually molesting a 14- year-old girl, was released after the report of the Medical Examiner’s Office. The report had reached the conclusion that there was no psychological and physical damage to the victim.
The 5th High Criminal Court of Bursa rejected the objection to the release of Üzmez by the lawyer of the molested girl. Thus, Üzmez’s status is still the same.
CHP: “Were the officials for the Medical Examiner’s Office assigned with political interests in mind?”
Gaziantep Deputy Akif Ekici for the People’s Republic Party (CHP) asked Minister of Justice Mehmet Ali Şahin if the officials of the 6th Specialized Board of the Medical Examiner’s Office, those behind the report that led to the release of Üzmez, were assigned with political interests in mind. He asserted that this report had started serious discussions regarding the reliability and incompetence of the Medical Examiner’s Office. (EZÖ/TB)
