Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Honorary President and Mersin deputy and Diyarbakır deputy Altan Tan commented to bianet on President Erdoğan’s words “If HDP is the assembly, it can’t be at the resolution process table”.
Kürkçü: It is a “fantastic” conclusion
Some of the highlights from Kürkçü’s statement are as follows:
“I don’t take these words seriously. We would have nothing to say if the [Turkish] government already decided to negotiate directly with KCK and PKK leader Öcalan. However, I don’t see a resolution process without the existence of KCK, Öcalan nor HDP. The others wouldn’t settle for a solution excluding HDP anyway.
“Therefore, I can conclude that the government’s attitude on pushing HDP out of the table would fundamentally collapse the process.
“On the other hand, even though being part of a negotiation process doesn’t necessarily require being in the parliament, it is fantastic conclusion to consider that HDP won’t be in the parliament [in the upcoming elections].”
Tan: I don’t understand what he is aiming to gain here
Some of the highlights from Tan’s statement are as follows:
“A president should talk like a president. I don’t understand what he is aimimg to gain here by these provocative and humiliating statements.
“If HDP is out of the parliament [after the upcoming elections], he must be upset about this. There is nothing to be happy here.
“Instead of feeling ashamed and apologizing for not removing electoral quota, her doesn’t make any excuses and utters such meaningless words. I don’t find this appropriate for him. He must though continue if he finds these words appropriate for him.
“As the resolution process resumes with negotiations, I really don’t find these attitudes right. If he wants to smash the table, he must honestly say so.” (EKN/BM)
