Prime Ministerial resolution about extending the cross-border operation authorization granted to the government for another year into Iraq and Syria has been submitted to the Parliamentary Speaker’s Office.
According to a report by the state-run Anadolu Agency, in the resolution it was stated that “Turkey attaches high importance on protecting territorial integrity, national unity and stability of Iraq”.
The independence referendum to be held by the Kurdistan Regional Government on September 25 is on the parliamentary agenda. The National Security Council will convene today (September 22) at 3 p.m. and then the Council of Ministers at 6 p.m. The parliament will convene for the resolution tomorrow (September 23) at 4 p.m.
As the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and Republican People’s Party (CHP) announced that they would support the resolution, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) expressed their objection to a cross-border operation. (BK/TK)
