Reporters will hold solidarity watch in Kurdish cities under curfew where their colleagues are working under difficult situation.
The reporters will go in groups every week to cities where curfews have been lasting and make reports there.
“We seek truth”
Journalists saying “We seek for truth; we stand by our colleagues” have called for participation to the watch.
Following statements have taken place in the call text:
“We are of the opinion that solidarity with our colleagues working at the cost of their lives for people’s right to information is one of our, the journalists in the west, basic duties, and in line with this opinion we will not leave alone our colleagues working under the shadow of guns.
“Following the visit to be made by the committee consisting press trade bodies and journalists to the cities in the region repressed by means of curfews, we as well in order to cat in solidarity with our colleagues will head for the region to end pressures on the journalists, to explain that journalism is not a crime, and make report there".
For participation
“We will work with our journalist colleagues and bring our feeling of solidarity to have the pressure on them lifted. The solidarity watch won’t be limited to this week. The journalists willing to participate shall contact by adding their date of participation via [email protected]".
The call has emphasized that the journalists to attend the watch should work in coordination with the journalists that are already there, have to cover their own expenses and take their own responsibilities. (EA/TK)
