News coverage related to environment and urbanization projects in Turkey rose by 10 percent in 2012 to roughly 57,000, according to a report by Interpress.
The data was collected from roughly 2,000 local and national newspapers through 2012.
The report said the most coverage was issued on topics including waste reporting, urban transformation projects and global warming.
* The most frequent coverage in 2012 was made on waste with 16.333 articles with topics on solid waste (paper, plastic, metal, glass, plastic bags and bottles), liquid waste (oil for domestic and industrial use), electronic waste (electronics, computers, phones), recycling of batteries, accumulators and plastic.
* 13.323 news articles appeared on urban transformation issues in Turkey.
* 2928 news articles appeared on global warming with a main focus on forests. (ÇT)
