Renault workers in Bursa province have been on strike since May 14. Workers had been negotiating with employers last night and decided to continue to go on strike due to disagreement after 6 hours. Deniz Baykal, lawyer of workers, made a press statement and indicated that OYAK Renault workers and employers didn’t come to conclusion after six hours.
The meeting will continue at 11 a.m. today
Deniz Baykal: “It was decided that the meeting would continue at 11 a.m. Two parts are well-intentioned. Negotiations continue. Both workers and employers have their own worries and ideas. I think we’ll get a favorable result tomorrow.”
“This is a unique situation. Our worker friends have already expressed that. I’m just a lawyer and a representative. I don’t have a right to decide on behalf of workers. I just try to put their wishes into words in a legal way.”
Workers’ spokesperson: There will be a mutual decision
Workers’ spokesperson, Ekrem Salım expressed:
“I want to give briefing. There will be a mutual decision. It’s a case of do or die. Employer offered us 1000 Turkish liras as advance payment, 480 Turkish liras as bank promotion and 600 Turkish liras in the end of the year. They requested a month from us to decide the sum of money that will redound to hourly pay. They said they would analyze the situation for a month.”
They couldn’t agree on two subjects
Ekrem Salım added there wasn’t any explanation related to gradual improvement in payments and increase of hourly pay. Workers responded they didn’t accept those subjects and they would continue to strike.
