Diyarbakır Chamber of Medicine and Social Service Laborers’ Union (SES) Diyarbakır Branch have called for the release of arrested doctors.
Seven rights advocates including former Diyarbakır Chamber of Medicine chairs Op. Dr. Selçuk Mızraklı and Op. Dr. Şemsettin Koç, and Human Rights Association (İHD) Central Executive Board and Central Anatolian Regional Representative Ali Rıza Yurtsever were arrested on July 21 and 24.
In his statement to bianet, Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council Member Dr. Şeyhmus Gökalp, with the arrest of Mızraklı and Koç their operations were cancelled and the patients they operated cannot have their physical checks.
It was said in the joint statement that “With the declaration of State of Emergency, which has caused human rights violations and turned into an arbitrary oppressive regime, crackdowns and arrests have been taking place against all sections of the society that carry out rights struggle”. (AS/TK)
