Ministry of Interior has refuted state-run Anadolu Agency’s (AA) report that “18 suicide bomb attacks have been prevented”.
The ministerial statement has read “The expression used in the TV program is that ’18 incidents’ have been prevented’”.
The statement included following remarks without mentioning the AA:
“Some news agencies, internet news websites, and social media reporting of the TV program Minister of Interior Efkan Ala featured on February 28,2016 made news as ’18 suicide bomb attacks have been prevented’ with reference to Minister of Interior Mr. Efkan Ala.
“This expression wasn’t used in the program. The expression was ’18 incidents have been hindered’”.
AA has removed the report without making any explanation.
Not the first time
It is not the first report of the AA refuted by government authorities. Upon AA’s report that Saudi Arabian planes will be in Turkey by February 14, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had said “The planes haven’t arrived yet” on February 17. (EA/TK)
