After Radikal newspaper finished its print edition, Radikal 2 readers launched a campaign against the cancellation of newspaper’s op-ed supplement.
By giving the example of Radikal Kitap’s release as a pull-out of Hürriyet newspaper, Caner Fidaner launched a campaige on Change.org urging Radikal İki to be released as a weekly pull-out.
“After the closure of printed Radikal newspaper, one of its pull-outs Radikal Kitap will be released as a pull-out of Hürriyet newspaper. However, having contributed the political and cultural areas of Turkey, Radikal İki seems to have come to an end. No other newspaper or magazine can take its place. Therefore, we demand the release of Radikal İki as a weekly pull-out, again.”
So far 200 people have signed the campaign.
It had been released since 1996 -the year Radikal founded. The pull-out was released with the chief-editorship of Tuğrul Eryılmaz until the beginning of this year. After Tuğrul Eryılmaz was fired, Nazan Özcan became the chief-editor of it. Then Radikal management decided to give up on paper and continue the newspaper via internet; they entirely closed Radikal İki and fired the employees. (EA/MEV/BM)
