IHD published a communiqué for Newroz and reminded in it that the United Nations General Board in 1966, called on countries to lift all kinds of racial discrimination and announced March 21 as the "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination."

IHD said the following:
"The 1965 International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination takes as basis the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which says all people are free and equal in terms of honor and rights."
In the Agreement it says: "teachings of superiority based on racial discrimination is scientifically wrong, should be morally criticized, and is unfair and dangerous for the society." It adds that there is no justification of racial discrimination.
IHD said Turkey had not yet signed the 12th additional protocol of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It called on Turkey to ratify the protocol on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and demanded that everyday racist and discriminatory implementations including those in the education system, be lifted.
