In the wake of raise in natural gas prices, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has announced that as of today (October 1), electricity used in housing has been raised by 8 percent and electricity used in business and industry has been raised by 18 percent.
As of 11 a.m. today, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) and Demirören News Agency (DHA) did not report the raise in electricity prices.
Electricity prices were also raised in July and September
After the inflation figures were announced in July 2018, electricity was raised by 2.89 percent. In September, electricity prices were raised again.
On September 1, while electricity in single rate tariff was raised by 15 percent; in the three-time tariff, electricity prices in the daytime were raised by 15 percent and the ones at night were raised by 16.2 percent.
Though this raise was expected to be announced in October, it was announced in September.
Joining live broadcast on Açık Radyo this morning (October 1), economist Ali Bile sait that the reason for the prices to be raised on the first day of the month is to leave the effects of raises on inflation to next month. (EK/SD)
