Police have raided the home of Dihaber editor Abdurrahman Gök, who had photographed the moment of shooting of university student Kemal Kurkut by police.
Coming at around 8 a.m., police carried out a search in the house in which Gök was absent., according to dihaber.
The police seized four books, one magazine in addition two phones that Gök doesn’t use.
Telling Gök’s housemates that the investigation is Ankara-based and Gök needs to go to Anti-Terror Bureau Directorship to testify, the police notified that a detention warrant will be issued otherwise.
He had given testimony to prosecutor’s office
Gök had photographed the moment of shooting of university student Kemal Kurkut by police during Newroz celeberations in Diyarbakır on March 21.
8 days later, Gök had gone to Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office with his attorneys to testify. 26 photos taken by Gök were handed over to the prosecutor’s office upon prosecutor’s request.
Gök was granted Metin Göktepe Journalism Awards – Special Jury’s Prize with the aforementioned photo. (EA/TK)
