Pink Life Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transvestite and Transsexual (LGBTT) Solidarity Foundation celebrates its fifth year within the Pink Life Queerfest.
Aiming at creating areas of expression through arts for the struggle for LGBTI rights, Pink Life QueerFest has been drawing attention to the discrimination and violence against LGBTI persons for five years, using not only the means of expression of cinema but also by means of video, literature, theatre, music and many other ways of expression it has included in its programme and thus providing opportunity for queer theory to be mentioned and discussed together with art in Turkey.
In its fifth year, Pink Life Queerfest includes over 50 films from 20 countries ranging from Thailand to Sweden, and from South Africa to Uruguay, also workshops, interviews, exhibitions and parties.
Concentrating on topics such as companionship, identity, race, love, friendship, family, growing up, discrimination, resistance and art through a selection of fictional films and documentaries with world festival awards, cult films changing direction of the cinema history and short films and animations developed in cooperation with programmers from all over the world, the festival also examines the history of the queer movement from past to today through works from all over the world.
The films will be screened under the categories of “Under the Rainbow”, “Queer Documentaries” and “qULT”.
Besides, the festival includes a short films competition this year for the first time.
