Putin: Turkey’s Islamisation Policy also Affects Us

Russian President Vladimir Putin has referred to the downing of the Russian jet at his traditional end-of-the-year press conference.

According to the report of Sputnik, he has stated the following about the crisis with Turkey:

“Turkey has hidden behind NATO”

“We interpret Turkish Government downing our jet not as a peaceable but as an hostile move.

” When people face with a problem, they usually communicate with each other and make statements. Yet after downing our jet, Turkey has taken shelter behind NATO instead”.

“Never heard of anything about Turkmens”

“We have not refused cooperation with Turkey. I attended the G20 summit in Antalya and met many Turkish administrators there and they have presented highly sensible issues about Turkey which contradict the international law

“Yet I have not heard anything about the Turkmens. They could have addressed questions about the attacks on the Turkmens and we could have responded ‘Ok, we understand and are ready to help you’”.

“Let them try and fly there now”

“After downing our jet, did Turkey indeed assume that we would draw back from there (Syria)?

“We now have S-400 air defence systems in Syria. Turkey used to continuously violate our airspace, let them try and fly there now!”

The influence of the third party

“I do not know whether there is an influence of a third party in the conflict we are going through with Turkey. Maybe some persons from the Turkish Government wanted to suck up the Americans.

“And maybe they wanted to show the U.S. and the EU that the Turks were ‘their Islamists’. The Islamization of the Turkish Government must have had Atatürk rolling in his grave”.

“There is no prospect of ties improving”

“It looks like it is going to be very difficult to come to an understanding with the current leaders in Turkey.

”There has been no steps taken by the Turkish Government regarding improving the ties. Their Islamisation policies also has an affect on us. There are many militants there who could infiltrate to our country as well”.

Political solution in Syria

“We have not changed our attitude regarding the Syrian crisis. External powers can not decide who will govern Syria.

“Russia will strive for a solution of the Syria crisis which can please all parties. A political solution in Syria is possible. It would be more favourable if this could be actualized earlier.

“Russia has a plan for the solution of Syria crisis and key issues on our plan are in compliance with the view of the U.S. The issues where we can reconcile are a collaborative work on the constitution and the organization of the elections”. (AS/DG)
