Advocate Aysel Tekerek alleged that two of her female clients were subjected to a strip-search in Kadıköy İskele Police Station on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the aftermath of a protest against police violence on Tuesday. 13 protestors have been transferred to Istanbul Police Headquarters in Vatan Avenue yesterday around 5 pm local time.
“I talked to my clients right after the incident. One of them was strip-searched even though she had plaster in her foot due to a fracture,” she told bianet.
“When I met them, they were still in the effect of what happened. Although they refused strip-search, they were faced with such practice, they said.”
Tekerek reiterated that the strip-search was unlawful. She added that they would follow up the case once her clients will be released from detention. (BK/BM)
