Cessation Court Prosecution Authorities request the suspension of pianist Fazıl Say’s “blasphemy” sentence for tweeting a verse by Omar Hayyam - famous Sufi poet from 11th century.
Say’s sentence has been suspended for 5 years within judiciary control measure before he appealed to the ruling.
On April 15, 2013, Istanbul 19th Peace Court convicted Say to to months of prison for “insulting the religious view of a faction of the society”, leaving the declaration of sentence to later.
Say also appealed to the suspension of sentence declaration.
In case that Cessation Court Prosecution Authorities’ opinion will be considered, Say will acquit. (EÖ/BM)
