The indictment prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has demanded both the closure of the party and a political ban for 687 people, which will mean that they cannot be the founder, executive, inspector or member of a political party for five years, if the Constitutional Court gives such a ruling.
That being the case, HDP Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş has posted a brief message on Twitter and announced that among the HDP politicians facing a possible political ban are also İbrahim Ayhan and Mir Dengin Fırat, who lost their lives.
İbrahim Ayhan, who died of cancer on September 10, 2018, was HDP Urfa MP in the 24th and 25th terms of the Parliament.
As for Mir Dengir Fırat, he was one of the founders of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and was elected an HDP MP in the general election in June 2015. He lost his life in July 2019.
