İdil prosecutor of Şırnak province in the eastern Turkey launched an investigation against three police officers.
In their press release held together, the Association of Human Rights (IHD), the Organization of Human Rights and Solidarity for Oppressed People (MAZLUMDER), the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TİHV), the Doctors Chamber and the Bar announced that the prosecutor caught the torture in the station.
According to the announcement, Hüsnü Doğan, Hasan Eraslan, Mehmet Bayram, M. Salih Geçgel, Ahmet Karagöl, Musa Bayram, Yusuf İnan and Mehmet Goran were arrested by the court last night (October 23) at 20:30.
Many people witnessed the beating by these police officers of eight people first in the corridors of an hospital and later on the way to the station. Upon hearing the incident from the witnesses, lawyers of the IHD Diyarbakır branch Cihan Güçlük, Veysel Vesek and Rehşan Güleç informed the İdil Prosecutor of the incident.
Catching the torture in the station
Visiting the station immediately after the phone conversation with the lawyers, prosecutor came across by a man lying on the floor, possibly with broken ribs according to doctor Mahmut Eryoltay.
Doğan, Eraslan and Bayram were able to identify the police officers who beat them and an official report was prepared. The other five people said they were not subjected to bad treatment.
On the other hand, the police officers from the riot police units said the suspects were not under their care, but the undercover police officers from the Anti-Terror Unit.
The Human Rights organizations said an investigation was launched against the three police officers and they faced the court this morning. The organizations want an effective investigation, a lawsuit against those responsible and an announcement from the government about the incident. (TK/TB)
