Prosecution has been brought against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair, Figen Yüksekdağ over “insulting public officer” by Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Yüksekdağ had been subjected to police attack as she was trying to get to the neighborhoods in Silvan where curfew is imposed and police launch operation against people. She had evaded a gas capsule about to hit by bowing down her head.

Yüksekdağ had filed a complaint as to police intervention against herself and the delegation with her.
According to Fırat News Agency (ANF), prosecution has been started following the complaint.
What happened in Silvan?
Diyarbakır Governorate declared curfew in Mescit, Tekel and Konak neighborhoods in Silvan district on November 3, 2015. The ban lasted 12 days. 12 people killed during police attacks and operations, as ANF reported.
According to Governorate statement, two civilians, one police officer, and 15 Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters killed.

In the intervention the day after, police used fire arms which left one person wounded.
Yüksekdağ pressed charges
Figen Yüksekdağ pressed charges over being attacked by police officers in Silvan, demanded public trial for security forces that carried out the attack and gave the order.

Suspects in the complaint petition are as follows: Interior Minister, Selami Altınok; Diyarbakır Governor, Hüseyin Aksoy; Silvan sub-Governor, Murat Kütük, Silvan Security Director; Silvan Gendarmerie Commander.
Charges are listed as follows: Threat, insult, attempted willful murder, willful injury. (AS/TK)
