An academic at İstanbul University was briefly detained for threatening a woman academic who was his former student.
The incident happened at Kocaeli University, when Prof. Bülent A. reportedly broke into the woman academic's room and told her, "You'll be mine. We'll marry. Otherwise, I will leave you unemployed."
A faculty member at İstanbul University's Department of Public Administration Political science, the professor also lectures at Kocaeli University.
The police Bülent A. detained Bülent A., after security was informed of the incident. He was released after giving his statement. İstanbul University shared on its social account that they are following the process closely.
Bülent A. was previously forced to resign from Sabahattin Zaim University in 2016 after stating on live TV that he got suffocated by the increased literacy rate and trusts ignorant people. A couple of months after the scandal, he was appointed to the supervisory Board of Türkiye's Board of Higher Education (YÖK).
