Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has made a statement on Turkey shelling the Menagh airbase under control of Democratic Union Party (PYD) near Azez.
According to the report of Doğan News Agency (DHA), Davutoğlu talking to the journalists on the airport after his visit to Erzincan has stated that PYD had violated the airspace of Turkey and noted “within the scope of rules of engagement, [Turkey] has retaliated against the forces posing a threat in Azez and in the surrounding area”.
Davutoğlu has stipulated following conditions for Turkey to end the artillery shootings:
“YPG (People’s Defence Units) will immediately draw back from Azez and the surrounding area, will not even go close to Azez, not attempt to destroy the corridor again, not long for using the Menagh airbase against Turkey or the opposition and will evacuate the base immediately”.
Davutoğlu has noted that they have transmitted the same conditions also to US Vice President Joe Biden. (EA/DG)
