In Siirt providence, in southeastern Turkey, a specialist sergeant named Hakan Aktürk died in a bombing attack. According to the mother-in-law of the deceased sergeant, the president Erdoğan said “Well, your brother shouldn’t have chosen to be a specialist sergeant, then,” after Aktürk’s sister reacted to Erdoğan “Should our children, brothers die for the sake of your votes that you lost?”
According to the news of Cihan News Agency, a delegation from Republican People’s Party (CHP) including CHP Vice President Veli Ağbaba and Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel met deceased sergeant’s mother-in-law, Emine Küçüktamer.
Küçüktamer told:
"The telephone rang. Hakan’s sister picked it up. It was the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. She said: “If your son’s flag-draped coffin was sent to your home, you would have understood. I don’t say more. Should our children, brothers die for the sake of your votes that you lost?” Erdoğan asked why her brother had chosen to be a military man, then.
