Postager website writer İsmail Yıldız was acquitted after giving his statement in the scope of a trial launched in Adana regarding charges of membership to the Union of Kurdistan Societies, the umbrella organisation that includes the militant Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Yıldız was released from Metris Prison in Istanbul on 5 January.
Broadcasting director Ahmet Birsin from Gün TV broadcasting in Kurdish, Adana Radio Dünya ('World') broadcasting director Kenan Karavil and Adana representative Şeyithan Akyüz of the Kurdish Azadiya Welat newspaper had previously been detained under allegations of being connected to KCK as well. They are in prison still.

Yıldız is one of 63 people being tried by the prosecution under allegations of carrying out activities in the name of "City Councils" on behalf of KCK. The case tried in Adana also involves politicians of recently closed Democratic Society Party (DTP) as well as Turkish writers and journalists. Furthermore, the book "Begê Dimiliyan", which deals with the topic of the Zaza culture, the book "The little generals of Apê Musa", Gündem and Alternatif newspapers and Azadiya Welat newspaper are quoted in the indictment as "illegal publications".
