The Osmancık District Municipality in the northern province of Çorum has canceled the concert of the pop singer Aleyna Tilki because of her remarks against yesterday's (September 18) anti-LGBTI+ rally in İstanbul.
"The people of Osmancık place great value on art and artists. However, the statements that singer Aleyna Tilki made in her interviews and on social media, which do not comply with our culture, were met with sadness by our people," the municipality said in a written statement yesterday.
Tilki was going to perform on September 24 as part of the Brilliant Rice Cultural and Arts Festival, which is organized to promote the Osmancık rice.
The Osmancık Municipality is run by the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), an ally of the ruling party.
"What is an anti-LGBTI+ march? Don't you think there is karma for the discrimination yu have created among the public," Tilki tweeted on Saturday. "Protesting against our emotional and sensual world is against nature! The mentalities are terrible."
Yesterday, thousands of people gathered at the anti-LGBTI+ "Great Family Meeting," in Fatih, İstanbul.

Toplumda yarattığınız ayrımcılığın bir karması yok mu zannediyorsunuz?
Duygu ve tensel dünyalarımızın protesto edilmesi doğaya aykırı!
Zihniyetler çok korkunç..
