German panzer like armored police vehicles sprayed rose water at pedestrians and apartment buildings in Bingöl province on the occasion of Holy Birth Week – a week dedicated to the birthday of Prophet Mohammed.
According to ntvmsnbc, local offials– governor Veysel Yurdakul, police commissioner Sadettin Akgüç and chief religious worker İmranç Kılıç –distributed roses to local business owners and passers-by in downtown Bingöl.
The reaction of people to police water spraying, however, shifted from horror to amusement as they realized that it was only rose water for celebration.
“We wanted to celebrate the holy birthday week differently this year. Not only in mosques, but also we wanted to bring the celebrations to the street,” governor Yurdakul said. (EKN/BM)
