The Grey Wolves in Mersin, southern Türkiye, hung a banner threatening the main opposition leader ahead of his scheduled visit to the city on January 27.
The banner included a quote from Devlet Bahçeli, head of the government-allied Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which said, "Come here if you have a lot of bottles. Try taking one of my children and we'll see how brave you are."
Bahçeli's remarks were in response to CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's claims that the MHP leader was protecting those who were involved in the December 30 assassination of Sinan Ateş, a former Grey Wolves.
Following an application to the police from the Republican People's Party's (CHP) organization in the Toroslar district, the Grey Wolves removed the banner.
In a written statement yesterday, the CHP district office said Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the party, will pay a visit to the city as scheduled. (RT/VK)
