Following the decision made by İstanbul 8th Criminal Court of Peace to shut down the Özgür Gündem daily, police have raided the newspaper’s building.
Police do not let people approach the entrance of the building.
The workers, informing bianet said they were taken out of the building after criminal record check and their computers were seized.
Libertarian Legists Association in his tweet said that the police don’t let the attorneys in who are supposed to be inside during the search.
Police are preventing reporters from taking pictures. There are some reporters who have been detained. Some of the detained are as follows:
Günay Aksoy, Reyhan Haceloğlu, Ender Öndeş, Doğan Güzel, Ersin Çaksu, Kemal Bozkurt, Sinan Balık, Önder Elaldı, Davut Uçar, Zana Kaya, Fırat Yeşilçınar.
Besides, Dicle News Agency reporter Mesut Karnak also has been detained.
imc TV reporter Gülgem Karataş also was in the building to report the raid. Screams of Karataş were heard as she was explaining that her camera was seized. Imc TV released the footage on its Twitter account.

İstanbul 8th Court of Peace shut down Özgür Gündem newspaper. The decision said that the newspaper will be “temporarily shut down” but did not mention how long it would remain closed. (BK/HK/TK)
