Despite the absence of any prohibition or confiscation order, the police today (September 29) hindered the distribution of the Yeni Yaşam daily newspaper in the city center of Dersim.
According to the Yeni Yaşam, the police prepared a report about the distributor Azime Bozkurt. Subsequently, they detained Bozkurt and confiscated the newspapers she had with her.
Ayten Kordu, a Member of Parliament for the Green and Left Party (YSP) and members of the Human Rights Association (İHD), reacted to the police's behavior and attempted to prevent Bozkurt's detention.
Kordu stated, "There is no confiscation order for the newspaper, and there is no detention order for the individual," and questioned on what grounds she was being detained, indicating that the detention was arbitrary.
Despite all objections, Bozkurt was taken to the Tunceli Police Department.(TY/PE)
