An operation has been launched into the building of Court of Appeal and Ankara Courthouse in Ankara “within the scope of the investigation carried out into FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization)”. Police search buildings.
According to reports on the newspapers, detention warrants were issued on 189 judges and prosecutors. Suspects are judges and prosecutors serving at the Ministry of Justice and courthouses throughout Turkey, and investigation judges at Court of Appeal and Council of State.
183 judges and prosecutors were dismissed from profession by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) on claim that they used the cryptographic application called “ByLock”.
A raid was conducted on Ankara Courthouse on August 8 and 126 people were detained.
2,204 judges and prosecutors, 140 Court of Appeal members
The HSYK had dismissed 2,204 judges and prosecutors on July 16.
Releasing the list, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported that “2,204 judges and prosecutors were dismissed by inspector reports by the incentive that the coup attempt was carried out by the FETÖ”.
There are 14,729 judges and prosecutors, according to HSYK’s data in 2015. (AS/TK)
