The depositions of the two police officers, who have been suspended from their duties and released from detention after their depositions following the incident where the 82-year-old Yusuf Topal lost his life in Giresun, have been reported in the news.
The officers, against whom an investigation has been launched, have stated that they went to the scene of incident after the doctor gave a 'white code.'
Claiming that the 82-year-old man, whom they attempted to detain in front of the hospital, resisted them, the police officers argued that they were "forced into" handcuffing the man behind his back and using pepper gas on him.
The officers stated, "Topal caused difficulties for us, we are the real victims."
Upon the complaint of Topal's family, the Provincial Directorate of Health has also launched an investigation against the doctor Ö.Y. in the medical center. It has been alleged that despite a decision to provide medical services to Yusuf Topal's wife Fatma Topal at home, the doctor Ö.Y. did not follow the necessary procedure to implement the decision. This allegation will be investigated as part of the investigation.
The Ministry of Health has also announced that the doctor who informed the police officers by giving 'white code' has been suspended from duty as part of the investigation launched against her after the incident.
What happened?
82-year-old Yusuf Topal went to the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Family Health Center to have the doctor prescribe medication for the chronic diseases of his wife, Fatma Topal. Upon her refusal to write a prescription, Topal disputed with the doctor.
After the doctor called the police, the police officers attempted to detain the 82-year-old man. The officers used pepper spray and handcuffied Topal behind back, who resisted his detention. Topal lost his life after the intervention of the police. (PT/SD)
