A protest against the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Hakkari's Yüksekova district, due to Turkey's ongoing operations in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) region of Iraq, was blocked by the police.
According to JinNews, the streets where the planned press release was to be held, and the front of the Zagros Business Center were surrounded by police from the early hours of the morning.
Many people were injured due to the police attack during the press statement attended by Green Left Party (YSP) MPs, Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA), Peace Mothers' Assembly, Solidarity and Culture Association of Families Who Lost Their Loved Ones in Mesopotamia (MEBYA-DER), representatives of political parties, and civil society organizations. The attack was protested by the crowd.
YSP MPs staged a sit-in protest on the main street with the banner planned to be displayed during the press statement. The police attacked the MPs also at this point and strangled Van Deputy Gülcan Kaçmaz Sayyiğit's throat.
It was mentioned that the reason for protesting the KDP was its support for Turkey's operations in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq. (TY/PE)
