Police summoned 5 retired Turkish Army officers this morning, escorting them for their testimony to 28 February Coup Case held by an Ankara court.
Retired generals Orhan Yöney, Köksal Karabay and Ersin Yılmaz in Ankara were escorted by police officers for their testimonies in Ankara court.
The remaining retired generals in Istanbul - Hayri Bülent Alpkaya and Altaç Atılan - were escorted to the airport by the police.
On January 3, Turkey's ex-military chief Ismail Hakki Karadayi has been detained in Istanbul over his involvement in the coup in February 1997 that ousted the country's first Islamist-led government.
While Karadayi was released the day after his detention, 58 other retired and active-duty generals were arrested for their involvement in the ousting of Turkey's first Islamist-led government. (EKN/BM)
