Using pressurized water and gas bombs, police have attacked the group wanting to protest against the bomb attack in Kızılay downtown of Turkey’s capital of Ankara and to commemorate the ones who have lost their lives.
Some out of the group who have escaped to side streets following the attack have been taken into custody by police.
The group of 150 persons gathered upon call of Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK), Confederation of Public Worker’s Union (KESK), Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and Turkish Medical Association (TTB) in the Tunnel square of Taksim in İstanbul to make a press statement and commemorate the ones who have lost their lives in the bomb attack in Ankara.
Yet the police have made an announcement and warned the protesters who had been chanting with banners and placards accusing them of shouting illegal slogans.
Over slogans proceeding, the group has been attacked with pressurized water from two riot control vehicles and gas bombs.
Some out of the group dispersing to side streets have been taken into custody and been delivered to the police station. (EKN/DG)
