Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has spoken at the meeting of Governors held at the Çankaya Mansion.
Touching on the visa crisis sparked with the United States (US), PM Yıldırım has said, “We wish the relations between two allies return to normal as soon as possible”.
Highlights from Yıldırım’s speech are as follows:
Relations with the US
“The visa crisis we have with the US constitutes one of the topics on the agenda in the recent days. The US declared that it has halted the visa services.
“Of course we did what we had to do and responded in the same way.
“We wish the relations between two allies return to normal as soon as possible”.
Idlib operation
“We are in efforts to maintain a peace zone, not a terror zone in the region.
“In the meeting in Astana, a decision was made to decrease tension and prevent conflict in Idlib. Our soldiers are in Idlib to fulfill this decision.
“The purpose of these efforts is to maintain peace and end the cruelty in Syria”.
Kurdistan Regional Government independence referendum
“Another hot topic in the region is the unlawful referendum held in the previous days.
“This meaningless step taken by the regional government in Iraq has disrupted the territorial integrity in Iraq and it also poses a threat for our national security.
“We have been protecting the rights of the people from different ethnical groups and we will continue to do so”. (EKN/TK)
