Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, has made a statement regarding the Boğaziçi ve Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges being closed by soldier in İstanbul and jet planes flying close to the ground in Ankara.
“This is an attempt. We will never and ever allow such attempts. It would not be right to call it a coup. Those responsible for this will pay a heavy price for it”.
“Unlawful action among military”
“We focus on the possibility of an interference attempt. Obviously, this is an attempt of some among the military who are not within chain of command. [...] The government [...] is in charge. Everybody should know that only the will of the nation can discharge it.Those responsible for this will pay a heavy price for it”.
Is it a coup?“Darbe mi gerçekleştirilmeye çalışılıyor sorusuna şöyle yanıt verdi: Upon the question whether a coup attempt comes in question PM Yıldırım has answered:
“It would not be right to name it as a coup yet, but it is true that there is an attempt.There are some groups which have irresponsibly taken over the arms entrusted by the state at some areas [...] We will find out who these groups are, what their purpose is and do what is necessary. Demokrasiyi kesintiye uğrayacak faaliyetlere müsaade etmeyeceğiz. We will not allow any activity which would interfere with democracy. Our security forces are mobilized”. (HK/DG)
