People’s Defense (HPG) Central Headquarters, known as the military wing of PKK, released a statement that denied their involvement in the death of 3 Turkish Army soldiers in Yüksekova district on October 25.
Some of the highlights from the statement read as follows:
“On October 23, 3 of our guerrillas have been killed by the Turkish Army in Kağızman district, Kars. We keep our right to retaliate to this, but we didn’t give any orders regarding the death of 3 Turkish solider in Gever [on October 25]. While our forces have no involvement in the incident, an investigation is underway.
What happened?
The incident took place around 4pm on Saturday when unidentified masked individuals assaulted plain cloth wearing soldiers who were named chief sergeant Ramazan Gülle and privates Yunus Yılmaz and Ramazan Köse.
Yüksekova Court Authorities issued a media ban yesterday on the coverage of 3 soldiers’ death scenes and their funeral ceremonies. According to that, no written, visual or audio content is allowed to be broadcasted online or other media means.
Hakkari Governor released a statement on Monday informing that authorities detained suspects related to the incident.
“As our governor has declared, certain suspects have been detained with string evident following an investigation and chase. They are now under detention,”PM Ahmet Davutoğlu said. (AS/BM)
