Pınar Gültekin’s mother says ‘there was more than one person involved’ in the murder

Killed by Cemal Metin A. in the Aegean province of Muğla, Pınar Gültekin's mother Şefika Gültekin has said, "I went there and looked at the cameras. There was not only one person, but a single person was caught."

As reported by daily Hürriyet, Gültekin spoke at the funeral of her daughter on July 22. Indicating that she went to the scene of incident and watched the camera footage, she made the following allegation:

"There was not only one person, but a single person was caught. We want our President to follow this as well. He has destroyed us, but he has actually destroyed his own family. He has burned us."

In his deposition, arrested murder suspect Cemal Metin A. said, "I did everything alone." It is now investigated whether A. got help from anyone in carrying the barrel with Gültekin's body to the forest area.

On the other side, Melek Set (75), whom A. referred to as a witness in his deposition, also deposed as a witness. Set talked about what she saw at that night. Set indicated that she did not see anyone at the garden at the night of incident, apart from Cemal Metin A.

Sent to prison, A. has been placed in a one-person cell and precautions have been taken in case of a possible attack.

What happened?

Living in the Neighborhood of Akyaka in Ula, Muğla, Pınar Gültekin left her house on July 16. Talking to her sister on the phone, elder sister Sibel Gültekin could not reach her after that. Worried about her life, she and mother Şefika Gültekin went to Muğla and reported her missing by appealing to the Akyaka Gendarmerie Station. Following this report, gendarmerie teams started searching for the missing woman.

Sibel Gültekin said her sister was living in her own house in Akyaka and added, "The last time that I talked to her was at around 3 p.m. on Thursday. She told me she was at a shopping mall in Menteşe. Then, her phone was switched off and we could not reach her again. We informed the authorities about the issue. It was said that she was seen in Akyaka the day after.

The dead body of Pınar Gültekin was found in a forest area in Menteşe on July 21, 2020. Murder Suspect Cemal Metin A. was detained in relation with the incident on the same day. She has been arrested on charge of "killing with monstrous feeling." (AÖ/EMK/SD)
