Antep Governor’s Office released a statement saying that they have dismissed the police supervisor for his inappropriate conduct when he forced his subordinate with swears to spray pepper gas towards local business owners.
The office said earlier that they had launched an investigation into the aforementioned police supervisor.
“Sık lan sık!” [spray damn, spray] he shouted, a scene that was documented with a footage.
The incident took place yesterday in the southeastern province of Antep as a group of 400 local business owners assembled outside a local municipality building to protest their failure to acquire office or make payments in a new newly-established industrial area.
“We want an office space just like everyone,” Uğur Delihan, a protestor, said yesterday. “Right now, they want half of the price and rest of it in two years.” He also expressed the difficulty of paying these installments - the conditions of which were allegedly not clear.
The protestors faced police intervention with pepper gas as they headed towards the governor’s office. According to Antep Sabah, one protestor was detained.
On the other hand, Antep Governor’s Office released a statement explaining the chain of events, an incident that was reportedly triggered by the “sudden pushing of protestors” and their attempt to intervene the human chain made up by law enforcement. (NV/BM)
