Celebi said, "It is impossible for a person to sustain his/her life with that amount of money."
"People are being abandoned to hunger"
Celebi continued:
* The Commission for Determining the Minimum Wage has assessed the incomes of millions of laborer families in its third meeting today.
* The announced amount of wage, which is, 250 million 875 thousand Turkish liras ($150) gross, and 184 million 251 thousand Turkish liras ($110) after taxes, is not enough for just one person to sustain his/her life, let alone a family.
* The government, which has fully given up control to the bureaucrats of the International Monetary Fund and the World bank, has abandoned the people to hunger and poverty, and has doomed them to work only for food.
* The people were made to wait for days, and in the end, there was an increase of only 20 millions in their wages. This kind of an increase is quite pathetic when the current conditions are taken into account.
* Let alone the Constitution or the international agreements, this kind of an approach does not even accord with the least humanitarian values. (NK/BB/EA/NM)
