After the Justice and Development Party (AKP) questioned the results in the Büyükçekmece district of Istanbul, a recount revealed that the rival Republican People’s Party (CHP) had won by 540 votes, higher than the 224 votes that originally made the difference.

In Istanbul, the AKP has demanded a recount in 2, and the CHP in 8 districts. The AKP questioned the results in Büyükçekmece and Kartal, while the CHP has applied to the district election boards of Beyoğlu, Çekmeköy, Beylikdüzü, Tuzla, Bayrampaşa, Bahçelievler, Zeytinburnu and Başakşehir for a recount.
Kocaeli, western Turkey
In the province of Kocaeli, the CHP and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have demanded a recount of the votes for mayoral candidates in Izmit, the province capital, while the AKP has questioned the results of the Izmit municipal council.
Adana, southern Turkey
The CHP has demanded a recount in the Seyhan, Yüreğir, Şarıçam and Karaisalı districts of Adana as well as the Greater Adana Municipality. The AKP also demanded a recount in Seyhan, where there were skirmishes between AKP and MHP party members in a primary school yard where the district election boards were located.
Iğdır, eastern Turkey
In Iğdır, first the MHP and then the AKP have demanded a recount. Local sources told bianet that ballot papers that had chosen the AKP had been found in the rubbish. The mayoral office had gone to the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) with 39.62 percent of the votes. The AKP had received 30.54 percent, and the MHP had received 27.08 percent.
Bursa, western Turkey
The AKP has demanded a recount in the Orhangazi district of Bursa.
Ankara, central Turkey
The Workers’ Party (İP) and the CHP have demanded a recount in the Mamak district of Turkey’s capital. The AKP had won in that district.
Balıkesir, western Turkey
The CHP has claimed that people voted in the name of deceased people in the Erdek district. The party has demanded an investigation.
Konya, central Turkey
In the town of Köşk in the Hüyük district of Konya, the MHP and AKP candidates had received exactly the same number of votes. Following their objections, a recount showed that the MHP candidate had one vote more. The AKP has also questioned the results in the Çumra district.
Ağrı, eastern Turkey
DTP MPs have gone to Ağrı in order to question the electio results. DTP leaders warned the crowds gathering in front of the party election office not to cause problems.
Muğla, southwestern Turkey
The Fethiye district election board has decided to repeat the local elections in the town of Seki after the CHP had questioned the results.
Antalya, southern Turkey
The AKP mayoral candidate in the town of Oymapınar, in the district of Manavgat, died a week before the elections. However, his party received the most votes (there are no names on the ballot papers). The Election board awarded the mayoral office to the candidate with the second-most votes, Tevfik Güven from the CHP. The AKP has protested against this decision.
Aydın, western Turkey
The MHP has demanded that the invalid votes be counted again. The AKP has also questioned the results.
Van, eastern Turkey
The AKP’s Van province party chair Vesim Yaviç has stated that there was a rumour that 7,000 votes for the AKP had been counted as invalid in the central district and that party observers and voters had been threatened. The DTP had won the election.
Amasya, northenr Turkey
The CHP has demanded a recount of votes at 13 poll stations in the Gümüşhacıköy district. The AKP’s candidate Mustafa Saatçi received 4,265 votes, and the CHP candidate Mustafa Yüksel 4,116 votes.
Following the objection of the AKP, a recount in the Göynücek district did not change the result. Democratic Party candidate Talip Alaboğa has become mayor.
Hatay, southern Turkey
In the Kumlu district of Hatay, the AKP has demanded a recount. The AKP received 923, the MHP 938 votes.
Gümüşhane, northern Turkey
The AKP has demanded a recount in the province, where the MHP won with 31 more votes than the AKP candidate. Votes from 65 poll stations are being recounted.
Bitlis, eastern Turkey
The AKP has questioned the results in the Güroymak district, where the DTP won with 61 votes difference. (TK/AG)
