At a time when the closure case filed against the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) is still on the agenda, a Parliamentary question submitted by main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu has been responded by Parliamentary Speaker Mustafa Şentop.
While Tanrıkulu's question was addressed to Vice President Fuat Oktay, the question has been returned to the MP by Parliamentary Speaker Şentop.
The questions of CHP's Sezgin Tanrıkulu have not been answered on the grounds that the issue is among "the issues that cannot be questioned" as per the Article 97 of the Parliamentary bylaw.
In his answer to the Parliamentary question, Şentop has said, "The below questions cannot be accepted by the Parliamentary Speaker's Office. They are issues that can be learned from other sources easily. Your question is considered to be contrary to the Article 97 of the bylaw."
Tanrıkulu asked the following questions:
"Is there any law that aims to dominate the political parties as part of the Laws of Harmonization? Does it lead the majority party to have a grip of closure on the opposition parties?
"Is it true that the Constitutional Amendment proposal will come to the Parliamentary agenda under the name of 'making party closures more difficult'? What will party closures add to our democracy?é (RT/SD)
