The motion allowing Turkish Army to execute military operations in Syria and Iraq as well foreign soldiers to enter Turkey has been admitted by the parliament with 298 votes against 98. Only a total of 396 deputies voted in the open poll last night.
While PM Davutoğlu was not present in the parliament hall for the voting, Vice PM Yalçın Akdoğan was present as acting.
Following the completion of speeches by the opposition parties, Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputies proposed the voting to be held openly. The proposal has been admitted with all sides.
Security summit afterwards
Following the passing of motion, the capital’s ISIS agenda even became busier. A security summit has been scheduled with the moderation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at 20:55 local time.
The meeting was attended by PM Ahmet Davutoğlu, Military Chief Necdet Özel, FM Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Interior Minister Efkan Ala and National Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz, Turkey’s chief intelligence officer Hakan Fidan and other top bureaucrats and commandants.
Yılmaz: resolution process will be affected positively
Responding a press inquiry after the passing of bill, National Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz said that the motion would not affect the resolution process negatively.
“It will be good. There will be peace, it will be calm. Don’t expect anything new after the passing of motion.”
Justice and Development Party (AKP) officials are expected to make critical gatherings in the days to come including NATO General Secretary. (HK/BM)
