Pamukkale University Rector, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Bağcı has been suspended.
The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has said the suspension decision has been taken to protect the ongoing investigation.
Bağcı was detained in Pamukkale district of Denizli province within the scope of the operations launched into the Gülen Community in the wake of the coup attempt, and released after his testimony was taken on August 3.
Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Bağ has been appointed in Bağcı’s seat by proxy.
After the coup attempt, 23 academics members and 58 administrative personnel were suspended of their duties.
Suspended rectors
YÖK had suspended Prof. Dr. Süleyman Büyükberber from Gazi University, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Jale Saraç from Dicle University, Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek from Yıldız Technical University, Prof. Dr. M. Niyazi Eruslu from Yalova University.
The suspended rectors from Dicle, Gazi and Yalova universities have been taken into custody. Saraç suspended of her duty has been arrested. (BK/TK)
